I took this picture of Tom on his birthday in 2000. 37 years old! I have this picture in a frame on my desk and I've always liked this one. Thought I'd give it a try. Tom came home while I had just started. I had the outline for the hair, but I wasn't done yet. He said 'I don't have Elvis hair!" I didn't think he did - I just wasn't finished yet!!

About Me
- Rebecca
- I moved from California to South Carolina 2 1/2 years ago for my husband's job. We really like it here but miss the family and friends. My husband, Tom and I have a 8 1/2 year-old son named William.

Okay...you've gone and done it...I opened up your blog and my mouth fell open...you captured him and you did a great job! YOU GO GIRL!
By the way, what got you going about trying to draw? What thought set that desire off? There's definitely a reason you're doing it...it's obvious you have the talent...so I'm just wondering what the trigger was.
Thanks Laura!!! I think it does look like him quite a bit - I was pleased with it. Tom didn't say too much about it!
I had been looking at some pictures of Dad and I just had an urge to try to sketch what I saw. I grabbed some paper out of my printer and just gave it a try.
At the beginning of the year I mad my 'resolution' to be more creative and wanted to allow myself to follow urges. So, that's why I think I'm doing this. I am really enjoying drawing faces - I feel connected to the person I'm drawing and it's fun to see them come alive on paper. I've tried to draw some other objects - but it's not working like the faces.
You and Sandy have inspired me, too!! Thanks for all your comments :-) Love you!
I know exactly what you mean about feeling connected when you are working on a portrait. When I'm working on eyes, that is what connects me...and maybe that's why unconsciously I usually draw the eyes too big. I don't usually see it until I've finished the drawing.
Sandy and I both have found that the guys usually don't have much to say about our drawings. Maybe it's just a guy thing. Maybe they don't realize how important a bit of interest shown in our creations means to us. After all, basically we're all doing something that we never thought we'd be capable of doing, right?
Love you too and thanks for the comments you leave at my blogs. I do appreciate them!
Fantastic, you really captured him!
