Something to Check Out
Under My Blog Links - I added a new one http://www.internationalfamilymag.com/ This is a magazine that Cat (see pictures below) from my church publishes. It's interesting, and I thought you might enjoy it!
On The Drive to Asheville, NC
These were taken April 25th this year, I just never got around to posting them. We drove to Asheville for a conference for Tom. It was a beautiful drive - took about 4-5 hours. We passed the time listening to books on tape - The Howl-a-day Inn, if I remember correctly. Books on tape are wonderful!
I just missed getting the 'North Carolina' sign. Oh Well. It sure was wonderful to see the mountains again. The mountains here - on a good day - are about 4,500 ft! Kind of a hill back home, but beautiful just the same.
Kayak Sale
They had a sale going on - you could try out a kayak and then buy it. Of course we didn't buy one then.
However, a couple of weeks ago Tom did buy a kayak - it's a nice red one. We haven't been able to use it yet because each Saturday since he bought it there has been rain! It will be fun to take it out and use it. That's another thing you all can use when you come out here!! Hint, Hint!!

Asheville, NC
We went up to Asheville, NC back in April and I never did post these. Tom had a minister's meeting and Will and I went along with him. It is in the mountains in NC and it's a great place. The town reminds me a lot of Berkely - it's a college town and seems pretty liberal (well, at least for this area of the country!) A merchant there told me there is an interesting mix of hillbillies and hippies!
It was fun walking around and seeing the sites. Where we stayed was a bit out of the way and wasn't convenient to walking around (it was also raining) so next time we would get a place downtown. Our hotel was located right by the Biltmore House. We were going to go, (so I could get some pictures) but it was almost $50 per adult. Kids under 12 were free - which I suppose is a bargain. Maybe next time.
This Reminds Me of Dad
Sandy, do you remember a LONG time ago you had called the house (when we lived in San Dimas) and you asked for 'Bill'? Dad answered and said he was 'Bill' and you said, 'no, the young Bill'. Dad then started calling you 'Old Sandy'!!!
I have seen this sign numerous times traveling up to Charlotte and finally got a picture of it. I took this back in April this year and am just now getting around to posting it!
