Many Faces of Will

Having fun wih Will tonight - taking lots of pictures and him letting me.

Tom After a long Day of Planting & Yard Work

He was outside most of the day yesterday - starting with Will's soccer game at 10am and then yardwork until about 5 or 6 pm. He got quite the sunburn!!

I thought it was interesting that while he was planting some new things out front about 5 different people stopped in their cars and said it looked nice or checking to see if he would come over to their house to work in their yard. I just don't remember anyone in California ever stopping in the street to say something to a neighbor. I kind of like that!

The Back Yard Before

This was last year - just after we got back from California. No fence, no extended patio and no welcoming place to enjoy the back yard. It was a lot of work, but I think it's paid off.

The Back Patio After

Tom has been enjoying working in the yard over the last year. It's starting to come together and feel more finished. There are still a lot we want to do, but realize it's a work in progress.

We've been sitting outside in the evening, listening to the relaxing water sounds, under the glow of the citronella tiki torches and moonlight swatting the bugs away!

Where the Bird's Nest is

Last year a bird had it's nest in one of our ferns, too. It ended up dying because we didn't want to water the babies!

We are getting too close...

Apparently this bird and its mate have taken up residence in one of the ferns on our front porch. I was watering the ferns and all seemed okay, but soon after the two birds came by to keep guard. I like the way this bird looks...I will have to keep an eye on him.

Paula Deen

When we were in Savannah yesterday, we walked over by Paula Deen's restaurant, The Lady & Son's. It was amazing to be by this restaurant right before dinner (it was about 5ish when we were there). Apparantely people start to line up around 1:30 or 2 to get in line to make reservations for dinner. Maybe they get in, maybe they don't. I don't know if I would wait around for a place like this... but clearly there are many fans of this Food Network star that would. We went into her gift shop and they had all sorts of things for adoring fans. We bought water and that was that! I kinda felt bad for the surrounding restaurants. Wonder if they felt left out or unappreciated?! I also wondered if The Lady & Son's were in the Entertainment Book!! I would have hated for that restaurant to be on my target list!!

Tybee Island

Yesterday I met Irene and a couple of her friends over in Savannah. She was speaking at a conference at the convention center. We went over to Tybee Island which is about 25 minutes outside of Savannah. I'd never been there before and really enjoyed looking around there. I was surprised how many people were on the beach. It was a nice day, but still a bit chilly for the beach (in my opinion) It was windy, too. There was a run away umbrella that was coming straight towards us. We caught it and gave it back to it's owner. It was a nice day.

Will was disappointed tonight

Will had it in his head that he wanted to have a sleep-over tonight. He wanted his friends Bridget and Jack to come over and spend the night. After all, Mom and Dad had their friend Irene spend the night last night, why couldn't he have his friends spend the night tonight?

But, he didn't contact their mom until 6pm and I explained that that is not really enough time to coordinate a sleepover, he didn't see what the problem was. He wanted to go back to California, where he had a lot of sleepovers. Then he didn't like being an olny child...because it is so boring!!!
I feel bad for him sometimes when he wants his family close by him. I know how he feels!
